Danny Ferrone at the Milan Marathon
The Milan Marathon is on Sunday, November 23rd this year. Danny Ferrone, from Chicago, will be running the Milanese race for his fist time. To prepare for it he arrived in Milan more than a week ago to meet some of his supporters and friends. Unlike many other athletes who will be running the marathon, Danny has an entirely different reason for running it. Since the age of 2 he has been living with a death threatening disease called Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States and 70,000 worldwide. Although progress has been made over the years; in the 1950's few children with cystic fibrosis lived to attend elementary school, now many people with the disease can expect to live into their 30's, 40's and beyond. Having lived with the disease for 22 years and knowing first hand how difficult "breathing" can be those affected by CF, Danny decided that more had to be done.
Two years ago, Danny decided to dedicate the rest of his life, to building awareness and to help finding a cure for this illness. He created the
"Fight Forever Foundation"
to raise awareness and to ask for help and support to all those who can offer a hand in this cause. Donations to the Foundation can be made directly on the "Fight ForeverFoundation" website.
The My-Milano Team, has already donated to this important cause and will be following Danny's progress in the Marathon.
More to follow after the race!!
