Contemporary Italian Jewelry
In the marvelous and magical setting of the “Hall of Treasures”, of the Sforzesco Castle in Milan, the exhibit, Italian Contemporary Jewelry, is now on display till April 18th.
Organized by Vicenza Oro and curated by Alba Cappellieri, professor of Jewelry Design at the Politecnico di Milano, the exhibit displays the creativity of over 150 artists and manufacturers. The works of art range from simple elegant lines of sober and traditional materials and techniques to sculptural “surprises” in resins, colorful metals or even plastic shopping bags which are transformed into “precious” and beautiful beads.
The concept behind the exhibition is to draw a kind of "geographical map" of Italian jewelry through various techniques and materials, artists and designers, giving space both to companies already internationally recognized, as well as to younger artists and designers. The effect is a truly exciting and emotional experience as the light reflects and sparkles on the gold, silver, precious stones and “alternative” materials.
At the same time, in display cases around the external walls, panels from the International Jewelry Design Competition are displayed. Take your time and see what new ideas and what inspiration these young artists have used to develop their jewelry concepts.
