What's On

There are always so many opportunities for enriching your horizons in Milan and its surroundings. The city offers theater, concerts, exhibitions, sports events, conferences, trade shows and all of this in the most spectacular architectural and natural settings.

Follow our tidbits below for just a handful of some of the upcoming events that you should NOT miss.

CEZANNE

This exhibition of paintings by the artist is focused on the various “atelier du Midi” where Cezanne worked in the beautiful area around Aix-en-Provence where he was born.

Cezanne, one of the most important French artists, was not recognized as such till very late in life. Only in his last few years was his pictorial research acclaimed by the art critics of his time.

The exhibit is open until February 26, 2012.

ITALY"S TALLEST SKYSCRAPER

Did you see the completion of Milan's and Italy's tallest skyscraper on Saturday October 15? It is located in Via Galileo Galilei at the corner of Via della Liberazione. The building, designed by the world famous architect, Cesar Pelli, reaches a height of 230 meters (including the spire, of course). (read more . . . )

O'CLOCK

O'CLOCK. time design, design time
till January 8, 2012
Not the first exhibition on time, but an interesting approach in bringing artists in on the theme of "TIME". Even the relationship with the visitor is based on time. If you are in a hurry, visit the exhibition through the "Fast Track" door. Here you are guided along the sidelines to observe from a distance.
If on the other hand, you have "time on your hands" then enter through the threshold of time, and walk among and through the works of art from artificial light to natural light and back to artificial light in a multi-dimensional experience.
Curated by Silvana Annichiarico and Jan van Rossem - exhibit design by Patricia Urquiola.

Starting Tuesday October 11, la Rinascente will dedicate 4 of its shop windows in via San Radegonda in Milano to Elephant Parade. During the next 2 weeks you will be able to admire the elephants of Katy Perry and Antonio Cagianelli as well as a small herd of other statues.
